Confessional Movie Review

The Movie features a guy named Ryan Pastor Who meets a former mayor Lito Casilo while on his way to Cebu to document the Sinulog Festival. As seen in the movie Lito confesses all of his crime that he has committed while in office in front of Ryan’s camera.

It started as Ryan is talking about the gruesome truth that every people lie to each other as it is a norm that people live to inevitably lie. As a filmmaker He wants to showcase a masterpiece that no one has ever done before, he wants to spill the truth of how people in a regular basis deals with their lives and not through showing the fake aspect of life in front of the camera. As his girlfriend Monet wanted to take on a vacation, they went to Cebu where he has an opportunity to make a documentary about the Sinulog Festival for a competition. As they arrived in Cebu, He first Documented the people that have knowledge behind this Festival, then he sat with the former mayor of the city.

At first it was an interview about how Cebu is capable of, its urbanized city and the simple lives of the people. Until Ryan fainted because of hunger, Lito took care of him for the day and as Ryan is about to ask his final questions for the interview Lito suddenly asks if he has a girlfriend and proceeded to his stories about having sex with beautiful women and the intriguing part is that one of these women that he had bumped into is a beauty queen in the festival which age is about 15 up to 16 years of age. Lito also came up with his stories that he had committed murder to a guy that involves him into making a business referring to crystal meth, as why he decided to kill the guy its’ because of knowing that the guy that has tactics on his sleeves that he decided to terminate the guy for not having a threat in his life.

As the story surpasses Ryan doesn’t believe to Lito and for Ryan to be persuaded Lito grabbed Ryan to the spot where he dumped the dead body of the guy he murdered. In the end of the story Lito was killed in front of Ryan’s camera as Lito already know his faith that he is about to be dead because of his crimes that he has committed. Ryan had just made a documentary of a mayor confessing his crimes as it is stated by Ryan as fiction because of the mayor’s death and no one is about to claim if it is the truth.

As the story started, I was expecting that the movie’s objective is to showcase the viewers about the life of Ryan but it showcases the inner truth of a person which portrays in us people in every ways. The movie gave me an impact that even the person who is as what we think who is well respected, has an inner sin that can be spoilt in any other way.

The Movie itself is a masterpiece as people who will watch this will enter the realm of reality and leaving the lies that the media is showing. I’ve learned something from the movie that it is in our blood to lie for us to survive in this world of reality, and it makes a camouflage for us to keep going in every obstacle we may fought. As a sense of living to tell the lies for us to feel good and hiding the dreadful reality.
